Every Day Is ‘Frey-Day’ In Detroit
As part of this celebration, Jim O’Brien, host of Big Jim’s House, will broadcast his morning show live on Friday, November 6 from 6-10am on Glenn Frey Drive in Royal Oak. That location — which O’Brien was instrumental in helping to rename in Frey’s honor — marks the spot where Frey graduated from Dondero High School in 1966 and was also the home of his first band, “The Subterraneans.” O’Brien will be joined the Royal Oak Mayor Mike Fournier in officially proclaiming “Glenn Frey Day” and share some stories from fellow Detroit rock legends Bob Seger, Alice Cooper and others. A special commemorative t-shirt will also be available for purchase at wcsx.com. Net proceeds will benefit the Michigan Chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. Colitis was one of the contributing factors to Frey’s passing.
