Miami Mornings Minus Young Ron
In a statement, Brewer said, “I’ll miss radio, but I’m looking forward to not being on a schedule after getting up at 3:30am all these years. I don’t have any specific plans… maybe I’ll buy an RV, but I’m going to enjoy life and fulfill some bucket list items. The best part is that Paul won’t have Ron Brewer to kick around anymore.”
The Paul & Young Ron Show debuted in 1990 on the former WSHE. Five years later, the duo moved over to WZTA (Zeta 94.9), and in 2004, landed in its current home on WBGG. Castronovo commented, “It’s certainly the end of an era; an unprecedented 26-year run for Young Ron and myself. We sure have had a lot of laughs over the years, and that’s what it’s always been about. I’m happy for Ron, and also excited about the next chapter of my career. Yeah, I’m sticking around, so Paul and Young Ron fans, prepare for disappointment!”
In a memo sent out to sponsors, Big 105.9 PD Dave Hill said, “We are grateful for Ron’s time and commitment to WBGG, the community and to his loyal listeners for the past nearly three decades. His presence on the morning show will definitely be missed.” Hill added, “Paul Castronovo will continue on air in the mornings and we will announce new plans later this month. Stay tuned!”
