Tonelli Makes Shocking Recovery
Yesterday morning, the Lamont & Tonelli Show on Cumulus Classic Rock KSAN (107.7 The Bone)/San Francisco welcomed several very special guests into the studio — a terrific group of humans who recently helped save the life of co-host Paul Tonelli. On Thursday, May 11, while playing basketball at The Bay Club, a.k.a. “a local gym,” Tonelli grabbed a rebound, went up for a lay-up and suddenly fell to the floor unresponsive, having suffered what was charitably described as a “chest incident.” Fortunately, a group of alert Bay Club members and employees immediately swung into action to save Tonelli’s life.
Fellow players Ron Wilson, Neal Grace and Paul McDonald went to work trying to resuscitate Tonelli. Deb Hall, who was at the front desk, ran to the gym and began performing CPR on Tonelli, who, according to her co-worker “Baywatch Bob” Young, was turning a “pretty blue color.” Young then used a defibrillator on Tonelli — twice — keeping him alive until paramedics arrived.
Yesterday, Lamont & Tonelli invited Wilson, Grace and McDonald onto the show to discuss the incident. Bob Young and Deb Hall (pictured here with Tonelli) arrived later in the show and also shared their experiences. Videos of the interviews are posted on The Bone’s website. As a special thank you, everyone involved in this life-saving story will attend the Lamont & Tonelli Ball on Friday, June 23 at the Concord Pavilion featuring Styx, REO Speedwagon and Don Felder. RAMP later spoke with KSAN PD Dominic “Zakk” Zaccagnini, who told us, “It was a very emotional show. Paul Tonelli is loved by so many and we are so lucky to have him back to his semi-normal self!”
