Remembering Mark Grantin
• UPDATED: RAMP joins the Country music community in mourning the passing of Mark Grantin, beloved PD of Scripps Country KTTS/Springfield, MO, who died at 11:10pm on Wednesday, July 11 after a valiant six-year battle with cancer. He was only 55 years old.
According to the tribute page on the KTTS website, Grantin was instrumental is helping KTTS win the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Small Market Station of the Year award in 2016 and 2018, the Country Music Association (CMA) Small Market Station of the Year in 2016, and the NAB Crystal Award for community service in 2016 and 2018.
Before joining KTTS in July 2018, Grantin programmed Clear Channel Country WBUL/Lexington, KY, Midwest Family Country WWQM and Oldies WHIT/Madison, WI and Midwest Communications’ former Sports-Talk WAKX/Duluth, MN.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20 at 4pm at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home in Springfield. Visitation will follow. According to KTTS morning co-host and APD Cash Williams, the station is planning an on-air celebration of Mark’s life, and a fundraising effort is now underway to help his family.
Not surprisingly, Grantin’s Facebook page has quickly become the main online destination for his many friends and colleagues to express their love and grief.
