Platten’s Daring Rescue Mission
Everything was perfectly on track at CBS Radio Hot AC WBMX (Mix 104.3)/Boston earlier this week leading up to Tuesday evening’s highly anticipated Not So Silent Night show starring Meghan Trainor, James Bay and Lindsey Sterling at the House of Blues. However, the situation suddenly took a tense turn late Tuesday morning, as Karson Tager, co-host of the Karson & Kennedy morning show relates to RAMP, “We found out that Meghan Trainor, who was in New York City announcing the Grammy nominees that morning, had fallen ill and was forced to cancel her appearance.” [Ed. note: Trainor’s doctors have placed her on complete vocal rest for the next two weeks].
Tager continued, “Thankfully, our Music Director Mike Mullaney was able to contact [Columbia Records artist] Rachel Platten — a native of neighboring Newton, MA, who just happened to be boarding a plane at Logan Airport, headed to a show in Orlando — and she agreed to fill in for Meghan! There was just one problem — her gear and bandmates were already onboard! At first Delta was unwilling to allow them to deplane the crew and gear, but after hearing why they needed to get off the plane, they made it happen. The House of Blues was able to make the changes to the lineup and opened the doors only fifteen minutes behind schedule!”
Later, when Platten made it safely to the show, everyone was finally able to relax a bit and have a few laughs backstage. Tager added, “Rachel jokingly dubbed herself, ‘The Jew who saved Christmas!'” Pictured, (l-r): co-host Salt (festive holiday suit sold separately), Ms. Platten, Tager and his elegantly attired co-host Kennedy Elsey. The video of their conversation with Ms. Platten is posted on the Mix website.
