Radio To The Rescue Again!
Last weekend, a fire ignited in the boiler room at Baker Elementary School in Richmond, VA; the smoke spread quickly through the building’s ventilation system, coating the classrooms in a film of soot, followed by water damage from the sprinkler system. The students are currently divided up among three other elementary schools, and to say help is needed is an understatement…
BOOM! SummitMedia Hot AC WURV (103.7 Play)/Richmond immediately swung into action, offering up the unparalleled power of radio. As OM/PD/morning enchantress Melissa Chase told RAMP, “In less than three days, 103.7 Play put together a ‘Help Baker Elementary School Emergency Supply Drive’ live broadcast with all DJs on site. We collected hundreds of supplies for the students and teachers (Kroger sold out of school supplies!) and more than $8,000 in online and on-site monetary donations in just a few hours. The power of radio is incredible! And having local personalities who truly care about a cause makes a big difference. Today was another great example of how our brands and DJs connect with our audience to make big, positive things happen in our community.”
