Let’s Talk News-Talk
• Midwest Television’s KFMB-AM/San Diego is proud to welcome back Mark Larson — starting June 5, Larson returns to KFMB-AM, where he began his San Diego radio career, to host the weekday 10am-noon slot, joining popular personalities Armstrong & Getty, Mike Slater, Brett Winterble and Roger Hedgecock as part of the heritage station’s talk line up. “I’m so happy and blessed to be coming home to San Diego’s premiere Talk and Breaking News station!” said Larson. “I’m energized about re-joining such a tremendous team and I’m looking forward to many more successful years together.” KFMB-AM Director of Programming Dave Sniff commented, “We’re excited to have Mark back on AM 760. He understands the San Diego lifestyle and knows how to create a real community conversation. He fits in perfectly with our commitment to inform and entertain San Diegans.”
• Indianapolis radio fixture Greg Garrison yesterday announced his retirement from his weekday show on Emmis News-Talk WIBC/Indianapolis. His last day hosting Garrison, weekdays from 11am-1pm, will be Friday, June 9. Garrison will remain involved at WIBC by writing a weekly column for wibc.com, doing regular commentary on-air, and by serving as a contributing legal expert for WIBC news and programs.
Garrison’s first show on WIBC was June 2, 1997. His show began airing on Network Indiana on Jan. 3, 2000, replacing The Mike Pence Show (whatever happened to that guy?). In 2003, Garrison received the NAB’s Marconi Award as “Personality of the Year” for Medium Markets. “Greg’s unique style, sharp wit, deep understanding of the law and conservative values have attracted a loyal, devoted audience,” said WIBC PD David Wood. “He’s their friend, advocate and conscience — and he will be sorely missed.” Wood said a replacement would be announced at a later time.
