‘Local Station’ Makes Play For Jay & Dan
Canadian sports fans from coast-to-coast remain in a state of shock after learning that popular sports broadcasting duo Jay & Dan were recently fired from U.S. based Fox Sports 1. In a move that in no way resembles a wacky bit, My Broadcasting’s CJMB (talkSPORTS Radio, Extra 90.5)/Peterborough, Ontario immediately swung into action, wrote some words on paper, and extended a largely legitimate-looking offer to bring Jay Onrait (left) and Dan O’Toole (right) back home to Canada!
As enterprising Extra 90.5 GM Rob Mise explains to RAMP, “The last time Canada felt this upset was when Edmonton traded Gretzky to the Kings — it’s time to bring them back to the mother land. We know an investment in Jay and Dan would pay off ten-fold, not to mention they would be outstanding mentors to our young talent on The Regulars with Jordan and Colin.”
Here is the more than generous Extra 90.5 offer: 1) Dan & Jay would do afternoon drive (no more early mornings); 2) Full Canadian and worldwide syndication from Peterborough; 3) Company benefits and two weeks vacation; 4) 20% more than the median income in the city; 5) free Peterborough Petes tickets; 6) Use of the station cruiser (as available); 7) Free station golf shirts; 8) Free pizza from time to time, and, of course, 9) Gallons and gallons of delicious Tim Horton’s coffee.
Extra 90.5 PD Joel Scott added, “Jay and Dan’s unique brand of humour and sports knowledge would be a perfect addition to our line-up of talent, including Bubba the Love Sponge, Jim Rome, Scotty Ferrell and The Regulars. We would make one small change… the show would need to be ‘Dan and Jay,’ as Dan O’Toole is a Peterborough native.” Mise says company lawyers will be reaching out to the appropriate talent agencies.
