Chio & Shila Ride Again!
iHeartMedia Philadelphia has wisely brought a very familiar name and voice back to the market — Shila Nathan is the newly named co-host for Chio in the Morning on the company’s new Rhythmic AC WISX (Real 106.1), starting at the stroke of 6am today. The move marks an emotional reunion for Chio and Shila, who did mornings together until early 2013 across the street on the late WRDW (Wired 96.5)/Philadelphia.
Ms. Nathan most recently did middays on Cumulus Country WNSH (NASH FM 94.7)/New York until last November, which was preceded by a stint in afternoon drive on CBS Radio Country WUSN (US99)/Chicago. Nathan’s earlier major market stops include WKRK (97.1 Free FM)/Detroit and WYSP/Philadelphia, and she began her radio career in 2005 at WKRZ/Wilkes Barre-Scranton, PA.
“It’s awesome to reconnect with my great friend and mentor Chio,” said Shila. “I look forward to coming back to Philly and I’m so excited to be playing the ‘Throwback’ hip-hop I truly love at Real 106.1. I’m excited to join the talented family at iHeartMedia Philadelphia and I can’t wait to start this new and exciting chapter in my life.”
An equally elated Chio remarked, “The second time around will be even better! Shila is the perfect fit: we are like rice and beans — we go together!” Chio in the Morning with Shila leads into Nicole in middays and Johnny V. in afternoons.
