Marc & Kim Mark Quarter-Century

• We’ve been following the success story of Marc Anthony and Kim Hansard for quite a while… we covered their 20th year in mornings on SummitMedia Top 40 WWST (Star 102.1)/Knoxville, TN in early 2021; followed up with news of their contract extension in 2024, and on Monday, March 9, 2026, The Marc & Kim Show celebrated it’s 25th anniversary on Star 102.1!

The show debuted on March 9, 2001, and has surpassed every other morning show in Knoxville history for longevity. “We’ve been at the top of the ratings from ‘Pampers to Depends’ since about 2004,” said Anthony, who honed his craft at the legendary WAVA/Washington, PRO-FM/Providence, and the former WZOU/Boston before landing in Knoxville. “Knoxville gave me the shot to really settle in and become a part of community that really embraces radio in a way other cities don’t,” he said. Anthony continued, “I’ve also been blessed to have a partner in Kim Hansard, who let me be me and not hold me to account for the stupid stuff I’d say and do! She really gets the way I am, and that’s allowed our show to thrive.”

Anthony continued, “SummitMedia is a real talent-focused radio company, and [EVP of Programming] Randy Chase has given us the freedom to be ourselves and do the show that’s kept us on top for so long, and our SVP of Programming, A.J. has propelled us with his support and guidance as well, and constantly reminds me that he “grew up listening to me” when I started at WBHT/Wilkes-Barre/Scranton back in 1993! Ha!”

“Marc and Kim have become more than just a morning show in Knoxville — they’re part of the fabric of the community,” said A.J., SVP of Top 40, Hot AC, & AC Programming. “For 25 years, they’ve shared life with listeners every morning, celebrating the big moments and the everyday ones that make Knoxville special. Their chemistry, authenticity, and connection with the audience are exactly what great local radio is all about, and we’re incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone with them on Star 102.1.”

In closing, Anthony said, “This is a career dream-come-true for me, as I never anticipated being on air for almost 40 years and getting to finish my career (eventually) right here on Star 102.1!” Your good wishes can be shared directly with Marc & Kim at marc.anthony@summitmediacorp.com and kim.hansard@summitmediacorp.com.

That gentleman sprawled across their laps holding the Proclamation declaring March 9, 2026, as “Marc & Kim Show Day” is none other than Tyrone Beach, Communications Manager for the City of Knoxville, who formerly spent more than a decade as Marc & Kim’s producer, a.k.a. “Tyrone on The Phones.”
