Condolences: Chris Watters
• Advanced Media Partners, owners of Triple A WWCT (CT 99.9)/Peoria, IL shared the sad news of the passing of evening personality Chris Watters, who died over the weekend at the far-too-young age of 43.
A message on the CT 99.9 website reads, “It is with a heavy heart we share the news that our friend and nighttime DJ, Chris Watters, has passed away. Please join everyone at Advanced Media Partners and CT 99.9 in our thoughts and prayers for his family. Chris was already a big fan of WWCT when he joined our team in 2012. While his passion for music and concerts was at the forefront during his time on CT, his love for the Cubs and Bears led to opportunities talking sports on our ESPN station, and his deep knowledge of, and vast experience in, audio production means that even if you never heard Chris, you heard his work across all our stations.”
In closing, the message said, “Chris will be well remembered by all of us at AMP. And as we’re sharing stories and memories of Chris this week, please join us and do the same with any you have.”
Watters’ entire radio career had been spent in the state of Illinois — he previously worked for the former Regent group (now primarily the Cumulus group) in Peoria and for Cromwell Radio in Mattoon, IL. Watters leaves behind his parents and sister, who live in the Peoria area. Memorial services will be held Friday afternoon in Chillicothe, IL.
