Downsizing Hits Entercom Miami

RAMP has confirmed more Entercom layoffs, this time in Miami — among those adversely affected: Kimba (left), APD/afternoons on AC WLYF (101.5 Lite FM), Jade Alexander (second from left), middays on Classic Hits WMXJ (102.7 The Beach)Todd Allen Durkin (second from right), morning host on WKIS (Kiss Country 99.9) and Brian “Beast” London (right), APD and co-host of Tobin, Leroy & Beast morning show on WAXY (790 The Ticket). An Entercom rep told RAMP, “We can confirm that Beast, Todd Allen Durkin, Jade Alexander and Kimba are no longer with Entercom Miami. We thank them for their contributions and wish them the best.”

• This had been Kimba’s second lengthy tour of duty with Lite FM — she originally spent seven years there in nights until January 2010, when she crossed the street to do afternoons on Cox Media Group Hot AC WFLC (97.3 The Coast). Three and a half years later, in July 2013, Kimba returned to Lite FM as APD/afternoons. Earlier in her Miami radio career Kimba spent 16 years in every daypart on the late, great WZTA (94.9 Zeta).

• Jade Alexander is also a longtime Miami media pro who joined The Beach in January 2016. Her nearly 30-year career also includes a ten-year stretch with WHYI (Y-100)/Miami and as an anchor/entertainment reporter for WFOR-TV.

• Durkin is also a longtime actor with many impressive screen credits. He told RAMP, “I enjoyed my time at Entercom and Kiss Country. John O’Connell, my PD, was very good to me. I understand the decision by Entercom and look forward to what’s in front of me. I’m a 30-year veteran actor — perhaps it’s time to return to the stage and screen.” Durkin can now be contacted at ToddAllenDurkin@yahoo.com.

• The Boston-born London is a 25-year radio veteran who had been with The Ticket since 2012. Before that he spent 12 years with WQAM-AM (now 560 The Joe). He can now be reached at allcanesradio@gmail.com.
