Entercom Dallas Pros On The Loose

• Entercom Classic Hits KLUV/Dallas has parted company with two longtime air personalities — afternoon driver Blake Powers and midday talent Jenny Q (Quinlan) have both exited. No replacements have been named.

Powers (left) had been in place since April 2014. Before that he did nights across the hall on KVIL. Powers’ extensive radio resume includes afternoons on Dial Global/WestwoodOne’s Hot AC format and seven years in Denver at KYGO, KONNKDJM and KIMN. He also worked at WDAF/Kansas City, WRMF/West Palm Beach, WDSY (Y108)/Pittsburgh, and he did fill-in work in Chicago.

Powers told RAMP, “I enjoyed almost six years with CBS Radio/Entercom, helping revitalize KVIL’s nights with its highest ratings in 13 years, plus taking KLUV from 16th P25-54 to 1st in two years, with former traffic anchor/on-air personality Debbie Sexxton. Thank you to Market Manager Brian Purdy, PD Jay Cresswell and former PD Ron Harrell (now PD of WARM 106.9/Seattle), to the Promotions interns who helped make it fun, rewarding, and empowering towards my next Classic Hits, Hot AC, AC, Urban AC or Country gig. Yes, I’m multi-format proven, award winning, and blessed!”

Powers would prefer to stay in Dallas, but is open to opportunities elsewhere. He can be contacted at 720-335-8989 or blakepowersradio@gmail.com.

• This was Jenny Q’s second tour of duty at KLUV in her hometown of Dallas — she had done middays there for the past nine years, and fill-in for three years before that. She originally worked at KLUV back in the ’80s, and in between her two stints, she lived in Southern California, doing morning shows at KKUR and KBBY/Oxnard-Ventura and KMGQ/Santa Barbara as well as fill-in at KRTH (K-Earth 101)/Los Angeles. She also did her share of TV hosting, industrials, infomercials, commercials, etc.

As Jenny told RAMP, “I’ve spent a large chunk of my life at KLUV and will miss contact with all compatriots in the building, hoping we may cross paths again.” She can be reached at jennyq@protonmail.com.
