• While the recent Entercom/CBS Radio merger was big news to the broadcasting industry, there were some adverse consequences — many talented radio pros found themselves downsized, the result of some high profile Day One format flips. One of those guys is Jeffrey T. Mason, a veteran of Classic Hits WJMK (104.3 K-Hits)/Chicago, which flipped to Classic Hip Hop as “The New 104.3 JAMS.” As Jeffro tells RAMP, “In my 4 1/2 years there, I moved up from evenings to middays to afternoons… with record numbers to boot. I hit #1 in various demos multiple times.”
Over his lengthy career, Mason served as APD/MD at WXXY/Chicago, KOOL/Phoenix and WMZQ/Washington; He also did mornings at WKIE/Chicago and middays at WIOQ (Q102)/Philadelphia, to name a few notable stops.
