‘Mean Jean’ Fremont On The Loose
• RAMP has confirmed that “Mean Jean” Fremont has exited as APD and morning co-host at Beasley Classic Hip Hop WMGC (105.1 The Bounce)/Detroit after a two-year run, as his position is eliminated. A glance at The Bounce website indicates that co-host Shannon Renee remains aboard as a solo act.
Fremont arrived in the Motor City in Oct. 2022, making the sizeable market leap upward from Knoxville, TN, where he was PD/afternoon talent at SummitMedia Rhythmic WKHT (Hot 104.5). It was Fremont’s second tour of duty with WKHT — he worked there under a previous owner until 2018, followed by an on-air stint with former CMG Top 40 WPYO (Power 95.3)/Orlando, before returning to WKHT in Nov. 2019.
In a Facebook post, Fremont said, “They say all good things come to an end, and that includes my time at the BOUNCE and in Detroit. My position with Beasley Media was eliminated and Thursday was my last day with the company. Over the last two years, we laughed, we cried, we celebrated and did a lot of really dope things. Shoutout to Shannon for being a star, welcoming me (when the first day we met was my first day on the job) and helping make my job easy everyday by being such a pro!” He added, “Doing a morning show was never a goal of mine, but I’m glad I had the opportunity to do it in this city. I never would’ve thought I’d go from doing afternoons in Knoxville to mornings in Detroit, but it happened and still blows my mind.” Fremont says he’s “excited to spend more time with my family in Florida while I figure out what’s next. With how 2024 has played out, it’s needed, for sure. All love, always.”
