‘The Mayor’ Exits iHeartMedia
• The iHeartMedia cuts are reportedly continuing… RAMP has confirmed that longtime Upstate New York radio fixture Pete “The Mayor” Kennedy has left the company. Kennedy was most recently doing afternoon drive simulcast on AC WYYY (Y94)/Syracuse, WMXW (Mix 103.3)/Binghamton, NY and WVOR (Sunny 102.3)/Canandaigua, NY.
It was Kennedy’s wife, Angela who broke the news on Facebook as she posted, “On the birthdate of the United States Army I’d like to announce that 6/13/22 was Mayor Pete Kennedy’s final day at iHeartMedia. It was a great run, but just like the U.S. Army, there are more miles ahead to be conquered. Thanks to all my listeners, advertisers and friends at iHeartMedia in the Rochester, Canandaigua, Syracuse and Binghamton markets. God bless our cops, troops and everybody on the front lines.”
The Rochester-based Kennedy formerly did mornings on WDVI (Mix 100.5)/Rochester until it flipped from AC to Country last fall. At one time Kennedy was doing a morning show with Julie Dunn simulcast on WDVI, WYYY, and WMXW. After a subsequent round of pandemic-related layoffs, Kennedy shifted to afternoons.
