Nights In Tampa, Mornings In Cedar Rapids

• After three years in nights at Beasley Country WQYK/Tampa, Geno Knight has changed format as he crosses the hall to do 7-midnight on Classic Hits sister WRBQ (Q105). Knight (left) is a New England native who famously spent a decade with Citadel Hot AC WXLO/Worcester, followed by stints at WHTF (Hot 104.9)/Tallahassee, FL and KHOP/Modesto before returning home to CBS Radio Boston for three years, followed by a transfer to sunny Tampa Bay in 2011.

PD Travis Daily is now looking for a new Country evening entertainer WQYK. Candidates must have at least three years of prior on-air success in a PPM market. Sound like you? Send your aircheck and resume to travis.daily@bbgi.com.

• After a successful 16-year run in mornings on NRG Media Active Rock KFMW (Rock 108)/Waterloo-Cedar Rapids, IA, James “JP” Patrick announced he will soon be hanging up his headphones and changing careers — he is becoming a local police and fire dispatcher. As PD Russ Mottla tells RAMP, “Interestingly enough, JP is following the exact same career path as his dad — from radio broadcasting to 911 dispatch.”

Mottla added, “Obviously we’re sad to see JP move on after 16 years with the station. He’s one of the best morning talents and most diligent employees I’ve ever worked with.”

JP’s departure is scheduled for Friday, May 3, which means the clock is now ticking loudly to fill the Rock 108 morning opening. Interested? Talented Rock personalities are invited to send their resumes and tastefully sized MP3s to Russ Mottla at rmottla@nrgmedia.com.
