Your Chance To Wake Up In Raleigh!
• Curtis Media Group Country WQDR (94.7 QDR)/Raleigh, NC has a very rare opening for a new morning co-host, as Janie Carothers has made the difficult decision to take a “step back” from the Q Morning Crew to pursue an opportunity outside of radio and focus on her family while continuing to do part-time work. PD Mike Biddle is now actively seeking a new co-pilot to plug in across from 25-plus-year QDR morning host Mike Wheless.
Carothers, who joined QDR almost 15 years ago as part of on-air talent search contest, made the big announcement of her impending departure on Friday morning, saying, “This isn’t a decision that I made easily or quickly. After nearly 15 years of doing mornings on QDR, I’m looking forward to a ‘normal schedule’ so that I can have more quality time with my family. It’s so bittersweet and I’m grateful that QDR is supporting my decision to step away from mornings while still letting me be involved on a part-time basis.” Carothers’ last Q Morning Crew show will be Friday, March 26.
Biddle said, “Janie has been such a big part of our family and it’s been awesome to see her develop into a true radio professional. We discovered Janie as a listener who showed a passion for Country music and our radio station and watched her turn that into a 15-year career that includes multiple CMA and ACM awards — AMAZING! We’re going to miss seeing her on a daily basis but we’re happy for the opportunity she has professionally, but more importantly, the opportunity it gives her to focus on family.”
Carothers’ departure now leaves a big hole to fill at a legendary station in a market experiencing tremendous growth. WQDR is looking for someone with at least three years of radio experience with a track record of success and working well with others. If you are constantly creating, are a great storyteller, a social media junkie, like to take risks, and most importantly, HAVE FUN, you need to apply today!
