Boulos Named EVP/Promotion @ Arista Records
• It’s now official — the press release just arrived, thus proclaiming that veteran promotion exec John Boulos has been named Executive Vice President of Promotion, Arista Records.
In this role, Boulos is overseeing all aspects of radio promotion for the label and leading a multi-format national promotion team, which he is responsible for building. He is based in New York and reports to Arista Records CEO David Massey, who said, “We are very excited to have John Boulos join the Arista team as Executive Vice President of Promotion. He is an artist-driven executive who is highly respected amongst the artist and radio community. He is bringing his invaluable experience and insight and building a formidable promotion team. We are very happy to welcome him.”
Boulos stated, “I’ve never been more excited than to be a part of rebuilding Arista Records. David Massey is someone I’ve worked with and admired throughout my career. His vision, passion and creativity is second to none. This business is all about the music, and after hearing the artists he and his team have signed, I have no doubt that this is the beginning of a great new label.”
Prior to joining Arista, Boulos spent 11 years at Roadrunner/Atlantic Records, most recently as Executive Vice President of Promotion. His previous executive stops include Capitol Records, Warner Bros. Records, Epic Records and Virgin Records. Earlier in his career Boulos worked his promotion magic at Mercury Records, Island Records, RCA Records, Inner City Records and Vanguard. Born and raised in New York, Boulos got his first music industry break working in the mailroom of London Records by day and promoting club DJs at night during the explosive dance era in the late ’70s.
