Countdown To Vinylthon!

• Across America and around the world, more than 200 radio stations will celebrate the unique format of vinyl records by going vinyl-only on the air for Vinylthon 2024, this weekend, April 20 & 21.

The official ambassador for this 9th Vinylthon is Third Man Records, co-founded by Jack White. Ben Blackwell, co-founder of Third Man Records, and official archivist of The White Stripes, says, “For me personally, and for Third Man Records, it’s insanely appreciated! We couldn’t be happier that there’s over 200 radio stations, and maybe that’s one way that we’ll see vinyl growth is in the radio realm.” Blackwell has also recorded an exclusive interview to be aired on participating stations during the Vinylthon weekend event.

Dr. Rob Quicke, founder of Vinylthon, commented, “We are delighted to announce the legendary Third Man Records as our ambassador for this event. Their commitment to producing brilliant, crafted records, and supporting a huge eclectic roster of artists, makes them a perfect match for our Vinylthon event.”

Organized by the non-profit College Radio Foundation and open to all radio stations, commercial and non-comm, Vinylthon is an industry-wide fundraiser supporting vital Next Step Radio Scholarships for students who aspire to become professional radio broadcasters after graduation. Quicke added, “We welcome student, community, and commercial radio stations from around the world to join us for Vinylthon 2024!”

And don’t forget — radio stations that broadcast at least 24 hours of vinyl during the event will be presented with the prestigious “Golden Slipmat Award” from Glowtronics, in recognition of their deep passion for vinyl.
