Dorado Joins Atlantic As Sr. Dir., A&R
• Rising A&R exec Mateo Dorado has joined Atlantic Records as Senior Director, A&R, where he will work closely with up-and-coming artists including Luh Tyler and Alicia Creti. Dorado comes to Atlantic from Alamo Records, where he signed multi-platinum rapper Rod Wave and spearheaded the development of numerous acts in the alternative Latin music space.
Dorado is based at Atlantic’s NYC HQ and reports to the label’s Co-President of Black Music, Lanre Gaba, who noted, “Mateo has all the qualities you want in an A&R — he has incredible creative instincts, knows how to nurture talent, and is unafraid to explore new sounds. It’s rare to see someone accomplish everything he’s accomplished this early on in their career, and I know it’s just the beginning for Mateo. I look forward to watching him continue to grow while bringing exciting new artists into the Atlantic fold.”
Dorado joined Alamo Records in 2017 and was instrumental in the career of Rod Wave, who charted over 50 songs on Billboard’s Hot 100 and earned the NMPA/RIAA’s top artist-songwriter honor in Q1 2021. In 2020, Dorado landed a deal with Alamo for his own imprint, Gold Music Group, home to Atlanta star Enphamus and Broward County’s Daedal Aswell. Prior to Alamo, Palm Beach native Dorado worked A&R at Interscope’s Latin venture in Miami.
“Atlantic is a label with decades of success and a place that made me feel empowered from day one,” Dorado said. “I’m excited to work with the new wave of artists from all over the globe and cultivate an artist-to-label experience like no other.”
