Epic Inks Zeke Lewis As EVP/A&R
• Epic Records has appointed Ezekiel “Zeke” Lewis as Executive Vice President VP of A&R. Lewis, who was most recently a Senior VP at Universal Group/Motown, is a Grammy-winning songwriter who has a background in publishing, production and A&R. He also co-wrote and co-produced Justin Bieber’s hit, “One Less Lonely Girl,” and he’s nominated for a Grammy Award this Sunday for his work on Kevin Hart‘s album, What Now?, which is nominated for “Best Comedy Album.”
In his new post, Lewis will be responsible for A&R activities on behalf of selected Epic artists, from signings and material acquisitions through the overall recording process. The Epic roster includes DJ Khaled, Future, Meghan Trainor, Camila Cabello and French Montana, among others.
In making the announcement, Epic Records’ President Sylvia Rhone said, “Zeke stands out as the type of rare talent who can write songs, engineer and drive the business behind them! He’s a creative force of nature behind countless game-changing hits. That level of creativity is something we revere immensely. I’ve been a fan of his for a very long time, and it’s amazing to welcome him to the family. I know he’ll be integral to the next era of Epic Records.” Lewis commented, “Epic is one of the most iconic labels in the history of recorded music. I’m excited to work alongside such an amazing team, as we establish the next chapter of Epic’s legacy. Sylvia Rhone and Rob Stringer are world-class executives and I want to thank them for this amazing opportunity.”
