Executive Action: Gallo & Capone
• Joe Gallo has been promoted to Vice President of Sales for Columbia Records. In this newly enhanced role, Gallo will be responsible for leading Columbia’s frontline sales and managing its commercial partner relationships. In addition, he will focus on catalog initiatives, as well as developing new business opportunities and expanding non-traditional sales. Gallo will work closely with EVP/GM Joel Klaiman and the other members of the Columbia Senior Management team. He is based in New York and reports directly to Darren Stupak, EVP/GM of Sales for Sony Music Entertainment (SME).
“We are very happy to have Joe taking on this expanded role,” said Stupak. “He is an accomplished member of the Columbia sales team, and his vision and strong leadership skills will help us continue to grow the business for our artists and account partners.” Gallo joined the Sony Music Sales team in 2013 and most recently served as Sr. Director of Sales for Columbia Records, where he worked with partners including Apple, Amazon and SoundCloud. Prior to that, he held a number of digital and mobile sales roles on behalf of Columbia.
• Garrett “Capone” Faulk has re-upped with Crush Music, extending his tenure as VP of Promotion & Head of Rock Formats. During his five-year run at Crush, Capone has come in close personal contact with hits from Lorde, Fall Out Boy, Weezer, Panic! At The Disco, Big Data, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, New Politics and more.
In making the official announcement, Crush Music CMO Dan Kruchkow said, “At Crush we live by the phrase, ‘Anything is possible.’ Capone is the living embodiment of that and very well may have it tattooed across his back. He is the first guy in line for the fight every time and always comes out with the ‘W.'” Capone joined Crush in January 2012, transitioning from the PD/afternoon perch at Local Media San Diego Alternative XTRA-FM (91X)/San Diego. His earlier radio stops include the late KWOD/Sacramento and WHRL (Channel 103.1)/Albany, NY.
