Executive Action: Second Estate Records
• Second Estate Records, a new label founded by A&R veteran and entrepreneur Mel Carter, has named Katie Kay as General Manager and Adise Bellille as President. Together, they will shepherd upcoming releases from Philadelphia rapper 2Rare and other acts in partnership with Warner Records via Second Estate’s recently minted worldwide joint venture.
Carter said, “Katie and Adise are both talented music executives who understand how to move an artist in an ever-changing landscape. With their knowledge and expertise, I’m confident we can take Second Estate to the next level. This is a huge win for our label and the roster we are developing.”
Kay (left) previously served as VP of Marketing at Cinematic Music Group, strategizing multiplatinum releases by the likes of Flipp Dinero, Big Yavo, Cam’ron, and others. Bellille (right) founded New York-based nightlife hub Carefree Nation and has successfully opened, owned, and operated popular hotspots such as Greenhouse NY, W.I.P. (Work in Progress), Kovo, and Oui Cocktail Lounge. Bellille also helped launch Coney Artwalls — a popular festival venue in Coney Island.
Steve Carless, President of A&R, Warner Records commented, “Katie’s experience has given her a unique perspective on artist marketing and development, while Adise has a strong foundation in live music and entertainment. They are both incredible additions to Mel Carter’s creative executive team. We look forward to what the Second Estate roster will accomplish in 2023 and beyond.” Kay stated, “I’m thrilled to join Mel Carter and Second Estate at this pivotal moment and excited about all of the new talent we’re bringing to the mainstream, including 2Rare. 2Rare’s talent is undeniable and his vision, presence, and drive are all equally inspiring.”
Kay and Bellille join the current Second Estate team alongside founder, Mel Carter, and Director of Operations, Brittany Mortera; A&R, Fat Ricky; and Project Manager, Fame Combs. Stay tuned for more news from Second Estate and Warner Records.
