Harren Head Of Music Biz Dev @ StubHub
• Radio and record industry veteran Jay Harren is putting his years of experience in A&R, operations management, label relations and music programming to excellent use as he joins StubHub as Head Of Music Business Development. Harren is based in StubHub’s New York office and reports directly to Jeff Poirier, GM of Music, Theater and Performing Arts. Harren most recently worked for Sony Music as VP of A&R and Artist Development and ran the boutique label Descendant Records, the home to The Lone Bellow, Colony House and The Wild Wild, among others.
Early in Harren’s music industry career he notably spent six years at Susquehanna’s late, great WNNX (99X)/Atlanta as MD and host of the station’s music discovery specialty show, Sunday School. In 2006 Harren made the move to the label side as an A&R Manager with Columbia Records in New York. He went on to sign Manchester Orchestra, as well as country star Cassadee Pope, who was performing under the moniker “Hey Monday” at the time. In 2012 he was upped to VP of A&R and Artist Development and launched the Descendant imprint.
In addition to his professional role, Harren is an adjunct professor at Belmont University’s Mike Curb College of Music Business, teaching Entertainment in New York, and is also the co-host of the music discovery podcast, Lean Forward.
Commenting on his new challenge, Harren told RAMP, “I’m thrilled to join the team at StubHub after a fulfilling career on the radio and A&R/label side of the music business. I look forward to continuing to work with artists and the music industry in my new role with a company that is as committed to the fans as it is to its business partners.” Harren can be congratulated at jharren@stubhub.com.
