John Nicholson: Free Agent
• Yesterday we mentioned several cutbacks within the Disney Music Group — today we learned that Hollywood Records’ longtime Dallas-based regional promo pro John Nicholson would be leaving the company after 17 years. His last day is July 26.
Nicholson got his first music industry break as an intern with Chrysalis Records in Dallas in 1989, which lead to a gig as a college rep for Capitol Records. Nicholson later went to work in the mail room at PolyGram Records, where all good things happen — just three months later he was upped to Field Marketing Rep, based in Austin, TX. His subsequent label stops include Houston-based promo rep for A&M Records, before moving to Dallas to do promotion for Virgin Records… and he’s been there ever since.
Needless to say, Nicholson is eager to put his two decades of invaluable experience and killer contacts to work for [your company name here].
For the next few weeks he can still be reached at john.nicholson@disney.com; after that, hit him up at johnpatricknicholson@gmail.com.
