Julie Greenwald Leaving Atlantic Records

• Less than a week after Warner Music Group announced a major executive restructuring, Julie Greenwald announced that she will be stepping down as co-Chair/COO of Atlantic Records and Chairman & CEO of Atlantic Music Group, effective at the end of January 2025. She will be succeeded as Chairman & CEO of Atlantic Music Group by 10K Projects Founder & CEO Elliot Grainge, effective Oct. 1.

The news was first reported by Billboard, which noted that Greenwald, who has been hugely influential executive at Atlantic Records for more than two decades, informed the staff of her impending departure on Tuesday during a 15-minute company town hall meeting conducted via Zoom.

Greenwald’s announcement comes just five days after Warner Music Group announced a new “flatter” corporate structure for its Recorded Music operations, effective Oct. 1, starting with the late September departure of Max Lousada, CEO of Recorded Music. At the same time, it was announced that Greenwald would transition into new role as Chairman of Atlantic Music Group, while Elliot Grainge, 10K Projects Founder & CEO, would become CEO of Atlantic Music Group, reporting to WMG CEO Robert Kyncl.
