JYP & Republic Building K-Pop Girl Group
• JYP Entertainment, Republic Records and Federal Films have teamed up to present A2K (“America 2 Korea”), a new series that will chronicle the creation of the very first American girl group trained through the K-Pop system. With auditions held in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and Dallas, the candidates will be assessed based on four major traits that make up the ultimate K-Pop star — dancing, singing, star quality, and character.
The series, which premiered last night on JYP Entertainment’s Official YouTube channel, is spearheaded by J.Y. Park, Founder & Chairman of JYP Entertainment, and Republic Records Founder & Chief Executive Monte Lipman.
The auditions kicked off in Dallas and Chicago, where viewers are introduced to several candidates who will be assessed based on four major traits — dancing, singing, star quality, and character. Those chosen will undergo initial “Boot Camp” training in Los Angeles before heading to Seoul to experience the exclusive JYP training that has produced such renowned global top K-Pop groups as TWICE, Stray Kids, ITZY, and NMIXX. The contestants are assessed by top JYP executives, including J.Y. Park himself. The final all-girl supergroup developed through A2K will partner with both JYP Entertainment and Republic Records for all future music releases.
A2K will be available to stream every Monday and Thursday at 9pm ET / 6pm PT on JYP Entertainment’s Official YouTube channel. For more information and other announcements for A2K visit america2korea.com. [Photo Credit: JYP Entertainment YouTube Channel]
