Neil Diamond Sings ‘Hands… Washing Hands…’
• With most of America currently stuck indoors due to the coronavirus pandemic, the legendary Neil Diamond had some — pardon the pun — time on his hands, so he decided to turn his classic “Sweet Caroline” into a catchy public service announcement about the benefits of social distancing — and regularly washing your hands.
In a video, posted to his Twitter account on Saturday, and reported by Rolling Stone, Diamond said, “I know we’re going through a rough time right now, but I love ya, and I think maybe if we sing together, we’ll feel just a little bit better,” before launching into his specially sanitized version of “Sweet Caroline” that contains the updated lyrics, “Hands… washing hands… Reaching out / Don’t touch me / I won’t touch you.”
As of Sunday, the video had over 3 million views. Thank you, Neil! You are advised to wash your hands before and after touching your keyboard.
