Olson SVP/A&R @ WBR
Monti Olson has been appointed SVP of A&R for Warner Bros. Records. Olson was most recently EVP of Global Entertainment and Managing Director of Global Music Publishing, and he arrives bearing more than 20 years of experience as an A&R exec whose efforts have earned over 50 pop publisher awards and 31 No. 1 singles. He has worked closely with a wide variety of artists and songwriters including Maroon 5, Christina Aguilera, Ellie Goulding, All American Rejects, Corinne Bailey Rae, All Time Low, Damien Marley and many others. Olson will be based at the company’s headquarters in beautiful downtown Burbank and report to WBR President Dan McCarroll, who commented, “Monti is a great fit with WBR because he has a deep understanding of both songwriting and record-making, and has an impressive track record of developing hugely popular and culturally significant artists. We look forward to him bringing in new and exciting talent to our WBR family.”
Prior to his stint at Global, Olson was EVP/Head Of A&R for Universal Music Publishing Group. Before joining UMPG in 2007, Olson spent five years as SVP/Head of A&R at BMG Music Publishing. He has also worked at Peer Music, Windswept Music Publishers and the late, legendary MCA Records. Olson is a voting member of NARAS and he also founded vinyl reissues record company Original Recordings Group.
