Post Malone’s Jet Makes Emergency Landing
• Post Malone‘s private jet was forced to make an emergency landing in upstate New York on Tuesday afternoon after blowing two tires upon take off from New Jersey en route to London. FAA spokesperson Jim Peters told Variety in a statement that a Gulfstream Aerospace GLF-4 aircraft blew two tires as it took off from Teterboro Airport at about 10:50am ET on Tuesday. The private jet was carrying 16 passengers, including Republic Records’ artist Malone and his entourage and was originally heading to London Luton Airport in Luton, England.
Malone was leaving New York after performing on the MTV VMAs on Monday night. Authorities say the pilot quickly realized that two of the jet’s tires had blown and circled the airport for about 30 minutes before the plane was originally instructed to divert to Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport in Westfield, MA, because there is a Gulfstream service center there and because the airport has “one of the longest runways in the Northeast” at 9,000 feet.
However, the jet was later diverted to Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, NY, which features a longer 12,000-foot runway. After circling over southern Connecticut for several hours to burn off nearly 4,000 gallons of jet fuel, the jet made a successful landing at Stewart at 3:53pm ET.
