Remembering Stu Cohen
• We were deeply saddened to hear that legendary promo exec Stu Cohen, who spent several decades of his career at Warner Bros. Records, rising to SVP of Promotion, died late Monday, July 20, after a tough battle against Esophageal cancer. Making Stuey’s medical challenge even more daunting, he recently recovered from a case of COVID-19 and was also dealing with a fractured hip that resulted from a fall.
A Brooklyn, NY native, Cohen joined Warner Bros. while he was still a teenager and worked his way up through the ranks over the years, perfecting his craft and ultimately rising to SVP of Promotion, based at Warner Bros. Records’ iconic “ski lodge” HQ in Burbank, where he lead the label through its many successes in the ’80s and ’90s.
Several years ago Stu relocated back to the east coast, settling in New Jersey to be closer to his daughter Lizand his beloved grandson, Leo. The RAMP family extends our deepest condolences to Stu’s family, his many friends and former colleagues. Stuey’s Facebook page has become the de facto gathering spot to leave your messages of condolence. Details on memorial services are forthcoming.
