Tom ‘Grover’ Biery Exits BMG

• Longtime record industry executive Tom “Grover” Biery has exited as BMG’s EVP/Recorded Music on the heels of a recent management change — Biery had originally reported to Zach Katz, President Repertoire & Marketing, BMG US, who left the company at the end of 2018 due to a restructuring of BMG’s U.S. operations into three separate units in Los Angeles, New York and Nashville.

Biery joined BMG in Nov. 2017, transitioning from Concord Music Group, where since he had served as SVP, Streaming Marketing. However, Biery is best known for his two decades with Warner Bros. Records, starting as a local promotion rep in 1990 and rising through the ranks to become SVP of Promotion in 1998 and EVP/GM in 2005. In 2011, Biery joined music management firm The Collective and became a founding partner of Collective Sounds, the firm’s in-house record label. In 2014 Biery established akaGROVER, LLC, a management, marketing and consulting company that advised artists, execs and various music companies.

For now, Grover says he will continue to manage Bay Area-based BMG artist Myles Parrish and will also oversee three releases for Record Store Day (April 13) on the label he co-founded, Slow Down Sounds. Looking ahead, Biery can be easily reached at 310-251-4888, 323-466-3373 or grover@slowdownsounds.com.
