UMG East Coast Rebranded As Republic Corps
• Universal Music Group’s ambitious restructuring continues — with the West Coast labels recently consolidated under the newly-formed Interscope Capitol Labels Group umbrella under John Janick, the East Coast labels group, under the command of Chairman & CEO Monte Lipman has been rebranded as Republic Corps.
Former Republic Records co-President Jim Roppo has been named President & COO of Republic Corps, reporting to Monte and Avery Lipman, while his counterpart, former Republic Records co-President Wendy Goldstein has been elevated to President & Chief Creative Officer of Republic Records.
Mercury Records will continue to be led by President Tyler Arnold and GM Ben Adelson; Island Records remains under the leadership of co-CEOs Justin Eshak and Imran Majid; Tunji Balogun remains Chairman & CEO of Def Jam Recordings; and Glenn Mendlinger continues as President of IMPERIAL Music/Casablanca Records. Kevin Lipson, who currently helms Global Commerce will take on an expanded role with a focus on Revenue Strategy.
And in the Promotion Dept. — longtime Republic Records Head of Promotion Gary Spangler will assume the same role for Republic Corps, supported by a team that includes Lucas Romeo and former Island Records Head of Promotion Ayelet Schiffman. Specific format leaders include former Def Jam exec Natina Nimene overseeing Urban, Brett Dumler overseeing Pop, “Davey Dee” Ingenloff running Rhythm, Manny Simon overseeing Adult formats and Amanda Dobbins running Rock.
Island Records’ GM Mike Alexander is transitioning into a new role overseeing global marketing at Republic Corps, with a team consisting of Myra DeCastro (Def Jam), Steve Rowen (Island) and Zoe Briggs (Republic/Mercury). Former Republic Head of Media Joe Carozza will lead media strategy for Republic Corps., supported by Beau Benton (Republic), Marisa Bianco (Mercury), Lauren Ceradini (Def Jam) and Lauren Schneider (Island).
Steve Gawley continues as EVP of Business & Legal Affairs and Business Development, and Joe Schmidt remains as EVP & CFO.
