Suspect Charged In Hussle Murder
• The man accused of gunning down rapper and community activist Nipsey Hussle last Sunday was formally charged with murder on Thursday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office stated.
According to an account in the Hollywood Reporter, Eric Ronald Holder, 29, of L.A. was charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. The criminal complaint also includes allegations that he personally used a firearm and caused great bodily injury and death, according to the district attorney’s office. Holder was represented by attorney Chris Darden, who entered a not-guilty plea on his client’s behalf. Holder appeared in court wearing blue jail clothes and was ordered held on $5 million bail.
The 33-year-old Hussle (real name Ermias Joseph Asghedom) was shot multiple times Sunday afternoon outside of his Los Angeles clothing store over what police called a “personal dispute.” He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. After a massive manhunt, Holder was captured without incident on Tuesday in the city of Bellflower by deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Two additional men were also shot, allegedly by Holder, at the time of Hussle’s slaying. They are recovering.
If convicted as charged, Holder faces a possible maximum sentence of life in state prison.
