A Rose By Every Other Name…
• Even if you’ve never seen an episode of ABC’s The Bachelor (like, say, us), there was no escaping the massive social media frenzy that followed Monday’s explosive break-up finale. From what can ascertain, Bachelor Arie Luyendyk, Jr. totally proposed to Becca Kufrin during the show’s pivotal final rose ceremony, only to break off their engagement weeks later while expressing his regret in passing up on the season’s runner-up, Lauren Burnham. Not cool.
Quickly swinging into action to show their love and support of the jilted Ms. Kufrin, a native of Prior Lake, MN, Hubbard Radio’s KTMY (myTalk107.1)/Minneapolis flooded the market with 26 digital billboards, shown here. “We are Minnesotans… that means we take care of our own,” said Colleen Lindstrom, co-host of the Colleen & Bradley Show on myTalk 107.1. “There was no excuse for the rotten way that Arie treated Becca, and we wanted her to know that we’ve got her back! myTalk is 100% #TeamBecca!”
The billboards succeeded in generating national attention, including a shout-out from host Chris Harrison on the live post-game show, The Bachelor: After The Final Rose, during his interview with Kufrin. To the delight of audiences and social media followers, Becca Kufrin was named as the next “Bachelorette,” and her season premieres May 28.
