Adams Radio ‘Hatches’ New Station
Adams Radio Group Salisbury-Ocean City, MD utilized a memorable promotional campaign leading up to the launch of a new radio station on April 1 — the birth of KOOL Oldies 104.3 and 105.1 was the culmination of a clever month-long promotional partnership with the Salisbury Zoological Park. A large egg “of unknown origin” was placed in an outdoor enclosure where zoo visitors could view it, then visit the Zoo’s website and submit a guess as to what was inside the egg.
On April 1, a curious crowd gathered to discover what was about to “hatch” — inside was an adorable stuffed penguin and the announcement of the new KOOL Oldies 104.3 and 105.1, which employs two translators rebroadcasting the 103.9 HD2 channel of sister WOCQ.
Kids took pictures with the new KOOL Oldies Penguin mascot and selected plastic eggs that contained prizes. Listeners are now invited to visit kool1043.com to help name the new KOOL Oldies penguin. The winner will take home an awesome 5,000-watt generator.
