Apple Launches Apple Music Radio

UPDATED: Attention, terrestrial and satellite radio — Apple is getting serious about pumping out the hits across multiple formats, with the launch of two new live global radio offerings on Apple Music, now available in 165 countries. The action begins with the rebranding of Beats 1, Apple’s flagship global radio station, as Apple Music 1, along with the birth of two additional radio stations: Apple Music Hits, celebrating favorite songs from the ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s, and Apple Music Country, which is self-explanatory.

Apple Music 1 is led by cornerstone presenters Zane Lowe, Ebro Darden, Brooke Reese, Dotty, Hanuman Welch, Matt Wilkinson, Nadeska, Rebecca Judd, and Travis Mills, and offers a lineup of shows from Action Bronson, Billie Eilish, Elton John, Joe Kay, Lil Wayne, Frank Ocean, Vince Staples, and The Weeknd, as well as new shows from Aitch, Kerwin Frost, HAIM, Lady Gaga, Nile Rodgers, Travis Scott, Young M.A, and many others. Apple Music 1 also features several shows dedicated to celebrating the vibrancy of Latin music around the world, including a new show from J Balvin and listener favorites ¡Dale Play! with Sandra Peña and La Fórmula Radio with El Guru. The station is also home to Africa Now Radio with Cuppy, showcasing the best local African music and artists.

• Apple Music Hits offers a full catalog of the biggest songs from the ’80s, 90s, and 2000s helmed by daily on-air hosts Jayde Donovan (pictured, left), Estelle, Lowkey, Jenn Marino, Sabi, Nicole Sky and Natalie Sky, George Stroumboulopoulos (House of Strombo), along with special shows from Ari Melber and others.

Apple Music Hits will also be the home of exclusive shows from such artists as Backstreet Boys, Ciara, Mark Hoppus, Huey Lewis, Alanis Morissette, Snoop Dogg, Meghan Trainor, Shania Twain, and more.

• Apple Music Country’s talent roster includes daily on-air hosts Kelleigh Bannen, Ty Bentli (pictured, left), Bree, Alecia Davis, Ward Guenther, Nada, and Tiera, plus weekly shows from Ashley Eicher and Kelly McCartney.

Country music fans can also enjoy new exclusive shows from artists like Jimmie Allen, Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, BRELAND, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Morgan Evans, Florida Georgia Line, Pat Green, Willie Jones, Chrissy Metz, Midland, Rissi Palmer, The Shires, Carrie Underwood, and Morgan Wallen and others.

• And, as was first rumored in late February, former Emmis New York SVP/Market Manager Charlie Morgan (left) has been named Director of Talent Development for Apple Music Radio; veteran programmer and former CAA agent Michael Bryan (right) is now heading up Apple Music Country, alongside a team of fellow radio pros: former Austin City Limits Radio PD Emily Parker is Executive Producer, and former KAJA/San Antonio APD/MD Bree Wagner is Music Coordinator and host of a daily show, Country Caffeine Radio. Jayde Donovan & Ty Bentil are represented by Workhouse Media.
