Cameron Comes Home To Radio One
• After a ten-month absence from the Atlanta radio dial, market icon Ryan Cameron is making his triumphant return next month — Radio One and its parent company Urban One announced they have secured the services of Cameron in a cross-platform partnership that includes afternoon drive on Urban AC WAMJ (Majic 107.5/97.5), effective Nov. 5.
This latest partnership marks Cameron’s return to Radio One — in the early ’90s he hosted the Ryan Cameron Morning Show for eight years on WHTA (Hot 107.9)/Atlanta. More recently he spent 18 years collectively across the street at Entercom Urban WVEE (V-103) until Feb. 2 of this year, when he announced he was stepping down from his morning show to pursue other ventures, including a partnership in Threaded.Agency, a new Atlanta-based branding firm.
Alfred Liggins, CEO of Radio One parent Urban One, said, “Cameron is rejoining the company after establishing himself as one of the most successful radio personalities in the region. We are making a 360-degree deal to leverage and develop his brand utilizing access to our radio, television and digital assets, which reach more than 80 percent of African Americans. It’s a win-win.” Tim Davis, Radio One RVP/GM, commented, “It is a dream come true to add Ryan’s amazing talent to our lineup. Majic is truly ‘The Real Sound Of Atlanta.’ We have the all-star team in the ATL.”
Cameron, a member of the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame, remarked, “In this new model, my recent and my on-going experience at Threaded.Agency will let me help companies and brands in a way that impacts their audience in a positive way. I’m very excited because I’m not only coming back to work with a phenomenal company but also doing it in a new model that was not possible earlier in my career. This is something I just couldn’t pass up.”
