Centennial Celebration For WHAM

• iHeartMedia Rochester, NY is celebrating the 100th anniversary of News Radio WHAM 1180. The longest-running radio station in the Rochester market, WHAM 1180 originally launched on July 11, 1922, under the call letters WHQ.

To honor the station’s amazing centennial milestone, Rochester Mayor Malik Evans will declare today, Monday, July 11, 2022, as “NewsRadio WHAM 1180 Day” in Rochester. The local proclamation, along with local video greetings and dignitaries, will be posted at WHAM1180.com to to coincide with the station’s 100th anniversary.

Throughout its 100-year history as a cornerstone of the Rochester media landscape, WHAM 1180 has been the home to such local and national news-talk voices as Bob Lonsberry, Todd Hallidy, Bob Matthews, Jack Slattery and George Haefner, Chet Walker and Beth Adams, Rush Limbaugh, Paul Harvey and many others.
