Changes At WDRQ/Detroit

• Cumulus Country WDRQ/Detroit has undergone several major changes, including 1) a wholesale rebranding, and 2) the launch of a new live and local morning show.

Let us explain… WDRQ has relinquished the company’s NASH Country identity in favor of “New Country 93.1” and also replaced the Westwood One-syndicated Ty Bentli Show with The Electric Barnyard With Broadway & Krissy, featuring Bill “Broadway” Bert, who moves up from afternoon drive, and is now paired with market veteran Krissy T. (Williamson), who did nights across the street on iHeartMedia Top 40 WKQI (Channel 955) until last month, when she was one of hundreds caught up in the company’s mass downsizing.

Bert, a.k.a. Bill Bertschinger (left), joined WDRQ in May 2019. He previously anchored Broadway’s Barnyard morning show on Entercom Country WDSY (Y108)/Pittsburgh. His earlier stops include mornings on iHeartMedia Country WWYZ/Hartford and morning co-host on WKIS (Kiss 99.9)/Miami. He also worked in Grand Rapids, MI at Country WBCT and Top 40 WSNX.

Prior to landing in Detroit, Krissy (right) co-hosted the morning show on Mainestream Media Rhythmic WHTP (Hot 104.7)/Portland, ME.
