Charlotte Says ‘Good Morning BT’

• Radio One’s heritage News-Talk WBT-AM 1110 & 99.3 FM/Charlotte makes it official and welcomes Beth Troutman — veteran news anchor, multiple Emmy-winning documentarian, television host, and former Congressional candidate to the co-pilot’s seat in morning drive alongside Bo Thompson as half of the newly-branded Good Morning BT with Bo Thompson & Beth Troutman, which launched on April 1.

Having first been called upon by Thompson in 2016 as a correspondent from the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Troutman has been a regular guest on the show several times a week. As it turned out, the duo’s ability to seamlessly move the discussion from news and politics to sports and entertainment and their shared Charlotte-native experiences has brought a fresh approach to WBT as it approaches its 100th anniversary on April 10.

“I was immediately impressed by Beth from our first meeting,” said Marsha Landess, RVP/Market Manager for Radio One, Charlotte. “Her contribution as a guest with Bo, and her infectious positivity, has only reinforced that impression. Together, they’re able to speak to the moms and dads and working professionals of Charlotte as generational peers, and we are incredibly excited to have Bo and Beth begin WBT’s second century as our morning team.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside Bo Thompson,” said Troutman. “He’s one of the best broadcasters in the business, and I know we’re going to create something really unique, fun, and informative together for the WBT audience!” Thompson noted, “The opportunity to bring in a talent like Beth is one we couldn’t pass up. I respect her so much as a broadcaster and can’t wait to have her join me for this new chapter of the show.”
