Codie Allen Circles Back Home To KBEQ

• Steel City Media Country KBEQ (Q104)/Kansas City has rolled out the “Welcome Home” mat for market favorite Codie Allen, who makes her triumphant return, this time as host of Waking Up with Codie Allen.

Allen built her foundation at KBEQ back in the day (1999-2006) before venturing out to grow her craft with CBS Radio, with stops at WLFP (99.7 The Wolf)/Memphis and KNMB (102.9 The Wolf)/Minneapolis before returning to KC in 2012 at Audacy Country rival WDAF (106.5 The Wolf), rising to APD/MD and co-host of the popular Codie & Zeke morning show alongside Zeke Montana until their departure last August. Now, the road leads back to where it all began.

“Codie Allen is one of the most genuine, talented, and trusted voices this market has ever produced. But what makes today truly special is what it means for our listeners — she started at Q104, and now she’s home,” said Marc Harrell, GM of Steel City Media Kansas City. “That’s not just a hire, that’s a story. Kansas City has always had a deep relationship with Codie, and we are proud to give that relationship its rightful home. Starting today, mornings on Q104 just got a whole lot brighter.”

OM Steve Serrano said, “This is a big day for the entire cluster. Codie brings an incredible combination of talent, experience, and genuine connection to this audience. The programming moves we’re making today reflect our commitment to putting the right people in the right places — and having Codie Allen wake up Kansas City on Q104 every morning is exactly the right move.”

Q104 PD Dale Carter remarked, “Codie Allen in Q104 mornings is a dream scenario for this station. She understands Country music, she understands Kansas City, and she knows how to make a real connection with listeners from the first song of the day to the last. We’ve built something special here with this lineup, and I can’t wait for Kansas City to wake up with Codie every morning.”

Allen’s arrival sets off a series of exciting moves across the Steel City Media cluster — Mallory Kay transitions to middays on Q104, while Lydia Taylor remains in afternoon drive. Marissa moves from middays to evenings on KBEQ and will additionally take the evening shift on Top 40 sister KMXV (Mix 93.3).
