Kevin Kon Back On Orlando Air
• Nice to see Orlando radio pro Kevin Kon back behind the mic again, as he announced via Instagram that he has joined Audacy Hot AC WOMX (Mix 105.1) to do afternoon drive. That shift has been open since late July, when Clint “CJ” Robinson was upped to morning co-host alongside Jenn Lopez.
Kon is a longtime radio presence in the Orlando market, dating back to his time doing nights on former CBS Radio Top 40 WQMP (101.9 AMP Radio) until its flip to Alternative in late 2017. He later crossed the street to do nights at Cox Media Group Top 40 WPYO (Power 95.3), and in July 2020 was elevated to morning drive, paired with afternoon talent (and former AMP Radio colleague) Danie B to form Danie & Kevin Mornings. That partnership lasted until March 31, 2022, when CMG sold the station to SBS.
Kon’s post reads, in part, “I’ve grown so much since I’ve left Radio, to be honest. I’m extremely nervous, yet excited. I was in radio since I was 18, and checked out when they let me go for the second time. I had put my whole life into this career, burned me out. When this opportunity approached me, I really took the time prepare mentally, cause I’m gonna give this my all.”
He added, “Thank you @djwillcalder for this opportunity and for everyone that has been in my corner, you know who you are and I love you! Let’s have some fun. Cheers!”
