KFMB-AM/San Diego Now KGB-AM
• iHeartMedia San Diego announced that the acquisition of KFMB-AM 760 from Local Media San Diego is now complete. As a result of the acquisition agreement, the call letters will change to KGB-AM, effective July 4. Please make a note of it.
Back in March we originally reported that TEGNA, Inc. sold Adult Hits KFMB-FM (100.7) and News-Talk KFMB-AM 760 to Local Media San Diego; moments after the sale was announced, LMSD announced it was spinning off KFMB-AM to iHeartMedia, which on March 17 began operating AM 760 KFMB under an LMA. As part of the terms of sale, TEGNA Inc. retained ownership of the KFMB-AM call letters, and the FCC has now formally approved the use of new call letters KGB for AM 760.
“The KGB call letters are legendary in San Diego and we’re excited to make them a part of AM 760’s next chapter as San Diego’s Talk station,” said Melissa Forrest, Market President iHeartMedia San Diego. KGB-AM station continue to air its current Talk format and full program lineup now that the change of ownership is complete.
