Kiss FM Morning Show Almost Out From Under
• Looks like the old non-compete clock on the wall is at long last ticking down toward zero for longtime Green Bay-Appleton-Oshkosh morning radio vets Katie Schurk and Nick Vitrano, who will be free to join the morning show on Woodward Community Media Top 40 WKSZ (95.9 Kiss FM) on June 10.
You may recall that Schurk and Vitrano co-hosted the morning show across the street on Midwest Communications’ Top 40 rival WIXX for many years alongside market legend Jim Murphy, who retired in late November after 32 years. Shortly thereafter, Schurk and Vitrano announced their departure “to explore new opportunities,” and in early January, Woodward announced that Schurk and Vitrano would be joining former longtime WIXX vet Otis Day in mornings on Kiss FM; however, the pair’s pesky six-month non-compete was firmly in effect, barring Schurk and Vitrano from formally cracking the mic.
Now, with some light finally showing at the end of a six-month-long tunnel, Joe Marroe, Brand Manager of WKSZ, exclaimed, “June 10th cannot come soon enough! Our audience has waited patiently, and patience will pay off. The three of them have been working hard behind the scenes the last few months preparing. Day One will sound like the show has been on the air for years.” Otis Day noted, “The question I get asked all the time finally has an answer. I couldn’t be happier to have my friends back on the air in NE Wisconsin. They’re almost free! This is going to be great!”
Kiss FM has also activated a handy countdown clock on its homepage, helpfully directing fans to the legally binding June 10 launch of Kiss FM Mornings With Otis, Katie & Nick.
