Lizzy Snyder: The Maine Event

• Yesterday we reported that Lizzy Snyder was stepping down as morning co-host on Townsquare Top 40 WMME (92 Moose)/Augusta, ME after four years, and moving to middays.

Turns out that was only Part One of Lizzy’s story — here’s Part Two: Snyder has also been selected to succeed the retiring Lori Voornas as morning co-host on AC sister 94.9 WHOM/Portland, ME alongside Jeff Parsons.

For her part, Snyder (pictured here with Voornas) posted her personal introduction on the WHOM website, which begins, simply: “Hi. I’m Lizzy. I’m your brand-new co-host of The 949 HOM Morning Show, and full honesty… I’m terrified.”

Snyder also reveals that it was Voornas, whose final morning show with Parsons is this Friday, who personally chose her as her successor. “She’s the very woman, the very voice, that made my world feel safer on those rides to school, when I was small, self-conscious, and searching for a place where I belonged. That is what morning show hosts do. That is their superpower,” Snyder wrote. “I grew up with Lori, and even told my mom, ‘I want to do that.'”

For the past month, Snyder says she’s “been living a double life — secretly co-hosting and training on HOM’s morning show in Portland while still doing mornings with Matt [James] on Moose.”

In closing, Snyder said, “To my future HOM listeners: Hi. I’m Lizzy. I’m a little loud, a little weird, wildly passionate, and deeply human. I believe mornings matter. I believe laughter is sacred. And I believe in showing up, fully and honestly, every single day. Let’s do this. Let’s make magic in the mornings, together. So this is a love letter to Moose Nation, to my new HOM family, and to the little girl in the backseat of a van listening to Lori, who is now the woman stepping up to her mic. Here we go.”

The all-new 94.9 HOM Morning Show with Lizzy & Jeff launches Monday, June 30.
