Nowlin Makes PM-To-AM Move At WZLX

• iHeartMedia Classic Rock 100.7 WZLX/Boston has called upon the talents of market legend and longtime afternoon personality Chuck Nowlin to anchor a brand-new morning show. The cleverly titled Chuck Nowlin Morning Show debuts Monday, April 14 and will also feature market veteran Danielle Murr and WZLX Program Director, Chris Tyler.

Nowlin (left) is the longest tenured on-air talent on WZLX and has been driving Boston home for over three decades. “After years of working the fryolator during the afternoon rush, I’m psyched to take the paper trainee hat off to manage the morning shift and start the day with Boston,” he said.

Danielle Murr has been a fixture of the Boston radio landscape for over a decade, having previously co-hosted the morning show with Greg Hill on the late, great WAAF and Audacy Sports-Talk sister WEEI. More recently she was doing fill-in on Beasley Country WKLB. “My passport needs a break, so I’ve decided to get back to my rock and roll roots,” said Murr. “I’m thrilled to return to the morning airwaves in Boston, and bring a dose of sanity to start the day — while undoubtedly driving Chuck and Tyler crazy. I’m excited to add my brand of wit and wisdom to the immensely-talented team at WZLX and iHeart Boston.”

“I’ve been lucky enough to manage some amazing talent over the years, and Chuck is at the top of that list,” said Tyler, whose other notable rock radio programming gigs include WMMS/Cleveland and WHJY/Providence. “Chuck is beloved by the loyal WZLX audience. So, it only makes sense that he hosts the new morning show. What doesn’t make sense is me getting up at an ungodly hour every day to be a co-host. He promised me a box of expensive cigars, which I still haven’t received. Oh well… let’s go Boston!”

• WZLX has not had a permanent morning host since The Rich Shertenlieb Show was canceled last November. Since then, former longtime WZLX evening talent Kenny Young has been covering mornings; he will now inherit Nowlin’s afternoon drive seat.
