Radio + Comedy Can Save The World
• How cool is this? As of yesterday, Intern John, host of Intern John & Your Morning Show on iHeartMedia Top 40 duo WIHT (HOT 99.5)/Washington and WZFT (Z104.3)/Baltimore was the proud possessor of the No. 1 and No. 2 Comedy albums on iTunes!
John’s previous album (The Album) which originally went No. 1 last November, helped raise money for Fisher House, while his current album, Chuy Forever, is currently No. 1 in the world, ahead of such comedy icons as John Mulaney, Nate Bargatze, Patton Oswalt and Bill Burr.
John’s new album is especially close to his still healing heart — Chuy Forever is named in honor of his dearly departed dog, and benefits the Warrior Canine Connection, which raises puppies to become service dogs for veterans.
“I’ve always lived my full life on the air,” John tells RAMP. “Our listeners have heard every bump and bruise I’ve had the last 13 years in DC as I was figuring life out, and that included losing my dog, Chuy. When he passed, I knew I wanted to do something to help others, and keep his legacy alive. Because of our listeners, we’ve raised over $100,000 for Fisher House, and now we will help veterans be paired with service dogs. I couldn’t be more blessed than to be able to be in this situation.”
John added, “Whenever people try to say radio is dead, or dying, I point to stuff like this. I am by no means the biggest comedian in the world… not even the biggest in our building… but because of our relationship with our listeners, they can make things like this happen.”
