Rivera Upped To PM Drive, KOLA 99.9

• It’s elevation from within at Anaheim Broadcasting Classic Hits KOLA 99.9/Riverside-San Bernardino with the news that veteran air personality Freddy Rivera will take over afternoon drive, effective Monday, Jan. 19. His promotion fills the shift vacated in mid-December with the retirement of Inland Empire radio legend Vic Slick.

Rivera, a SoCal native, has been with KOLA since 2021 as a weekend/part-time/fill-in personality. Prior to KOLA, Rivera’s 20-year radio career included stops at KGGI/Riverside/San Bernardino, KIIS-FM/Los Angeles, and KDMX/Dallas.

“From the first time I met Freddy, I wondered how we could get him in here full-time,” said KOLA GM Jeff Parke. “He’s an extremely talented and energetic broadcaster. I couldn’t be happier.”

KOLA PD Gary Springfield commented, “It turns out the best person to take over afternoons was already in the building. Freddy is great to work with, and I’m really excited about what he’ll bring to afternoons for the Inland Empire.”

Rivera remarked, “Coming back to the Inland Empire and joining the team at KOLA feels like stepping into the chapter I’ve been working toward for years. This community raised me, and I’m honored to bring my voice home every afternoon. I’m ready to do the best work of my career at such a legendary station.”
